Target is getting serious about the used games market today, with the rollout of in-store trade-ins at select retail outlets in California. The trade-in program launches today in Northern California, with plans to expand it next month at more Target locations. By year's end Target hopes to offer trade-ins at over 850 stores nationwide. In addition to the in-store trade-ins, consumers will also be able to go to the Target website to trade-in used electronics and DVDs as well - for store credit. Apparently, you'll also be able to trade in select electronics too like iPhones and cellphones.
Golden Sun was one of the best JRPGs for the Game Boy Advance, and a pretty great one all around. And now there's a Golden Sun game for the DS, newly subtitled as Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.
It's pretty impressive from what's seen so far, and also a little bit traditional. Turn-based combat, towns, dungeons, and all those things people thought modern JRPGs were trying their best to kill off. There's a cool cell-shaded look about the whole thing, as well as some obligatory touch mechanics for puzzle-solving.
Expect to see it this holiday!

UK based developer Jagex has unveiled Stellar Dawn, a browser based MMORPG that will be playable on both the PC and the Mac.

It's the ultimate irony. You're a massive fan of JRPGs, but you don't like reading. Due to your freak tastes, you don't want to read my previewUpcoming NIS America / puff name Altelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland. Which is weird, because if there was ever a genre that forced reading, it would be Japanese Role Playing Games, the genre defined by exposition. You are a freak.
So what can we do? Well, I 'd recommend you view the clip above. This magical and unpretentious story about the 14-year-old girl in a mini-skirt working to save his store. Pip pip!

We all know that Activision is the bad guy now and Electronic Arts is all awesome and cool these days, but that doesn't mean that it won't be whoring out a popular franchise as much as it can. Never doubt that EA is a business, and its next move in franchise spreading is evidently going to be an RPG based in the Spore Universe.
The reveal slipped out via Comic-Con's show schedulewhere this description ran:
6:00-7:00 Video Game Reveal: Maxis Studio Maxis Studio (The Simsand Sporevideo games) has recently announced its next project, a new, Sci-Fi-RPG action based on DNA Spore. Join key leads from the dev team, Thomas Vu, Paul Sottosanti and Lauren McHugh, for the first game reveal to the public! Room 3
Now don't get me wrong; as long as this is a good game that actually has something to do with Spore, the Spore name can be smeared all over it like cream cheese on a bagel. In fact I'm kind of hoping that this is the hinted at Darkspore. We will find out more soon as Comic-Con approaches quickly and Dtoid will be there.

Schaefer told us, "[Blizzard has] an impossible task. Blizzard can not get away with doing a Torchlight 1. If they put out a single player game, an RPG that's kinda stripped down for $20, people would say, 'What the hell happened to Blizzard?' They don't have that luxury. Everything has to be super epic. More epic than anything that's come before, more epic than World Of Warcraft . They should do it. This puts them in a very tight spot, I do not envy t 'them. It must be perfect. "
Given his deadpan delivery on the subject, we wanted to make sure he was serious about Torchlight's third installment beating the Blizzard behemoth to market, "I really think we will, I'm not joking about it. I'll be the first to buy Diablo 3, I'm a huge fan. I just know what it's like over there."
