Mikami: Japanese RPGs were never really popular' screenshot

Many experts, like wax philosophical about the fall of the Japanese gaming market, especially noting how only JRPGs Aren 't as popular as they used to. Resident Evil Shinji Mikami the creator, however, offers a more radical proposal - Japanese role-playing games that have never been hot to start!

\\ "I think it's because the Japanese role-playing really never all that popular in the west to begin with," said the producer of Capcom when asked about the decline of the genre. "I think the best way of interpreting things is that they Aren 't become less popular, they weren t' are very popular from the outset."

It sounds strange, but perhaps, Mikami point. Course, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest always enjoyed great success in America and Japan, respectively, but they are only two games, but not really reflected in a genre. Maybe it 'true that JRPGs have never been big sellers, and we' ve retroactively decided that they once were because of how much we played Final Fantasy back in the day. Definitely worth considering.
